Equipment and Supplies

Before you begin planting a tree you are going to need the equipment in which to get the job done. The equipment needed to plant a tree is going to depend on the size of tree in which you purchase. A bigger tree is going to take different or more equipment. Here are few items to think about.

Basic Equipment

• Delivery or method of getting the tree to the site.

If you are unable to get the tree to the site some gardencenters and nurseries offer delivery for a fee all you have to do is ask

• Shovels or a mechanized means of digging

Shovels are used to dig the whole for the tree, but some trees are going to be so big that it requires digging by a mechanical device such as a small backhoe. Not every body has the means of digging wholes by mechanical means. If your tree you pick out tree is large enough to require a mechanized digging method some nurseries and garden centers offer servises to come to the site and plant the tree for you for a fee.

• Wheel barrow and rake( for removal of extra soil)

A wheel barrow is used for placing excess dirt that will come from digging the whole for the tree and the rake will be used to rake up the extra dirt around the whole

• Pruning sheers ( for pruning unwanted branches or roots)

Pruning sheers will be used to remove unwanted branches or roots on the tree

• Proper clothing (because your going to get dirty!)

Proper clothing such as foot wear and gloves are recommened because planting a tree can be a messy job

• Tree stakes and rope or string ( for aiding the tree in proper straight growth)Tree stakes and rope or string will not only help the tree grow straight but will help the tree remain in place if the wind becomes strong during a storm or other inclimate weather.

These items may be in your garage or your work shed. If not, they can be found at your local hardware store or gardencenter.

Extra equipment and supplies

A garden hose or five gallon bucket (for means of getting water to the newly planted tree)

A garden hose or five gallon bucket is needed to get water to the tree because it is essential to the tree to help it get started in growth after planting it

• Some type of fertilzer (to help in the heathly growth of the new tree)

Fertilzer will be needed to provide the tree with proper ingredients to help in strong growth. The proper fertilizer can be found at your local garden center or nursery and if you don`t no what to get just ask a professional there and they should be able to guide you to the proper fertilizer needed for your tree

• Mulch (to dress up the area around the new tree)

Mulch can be used to to dress up the area around the tree and can provide a barrier to hold water and discourage weeds around your tree. You can find mulch and the many varities of mulch at your local hardware store or gardencenter

All of these items can be found at your local hardware store or gardencenter or you can search the web to find the best prices before you leave your house.
